KitchenAid Bowl Liners: What They Are and How Bakers Use Them

If you bake with a KitchenAid stand mixer, you know the routine. One batch finishes, and before the next one can start, the bowl has to come off, get scraped, get washed and get dried. A bowl liner is built to cut that step out.

What is a KitchenAid bowl liner?

A bowl liner is a flexible insert that sits inside your mixer's existing bowl. The beater, whisk or dough hook works inside the liner, not the bowl. When the batch is done, you lift the liner out with everything in it. Your bowl stays clean and ready for the next mix.

MIXAID™ silicone bowl liners are made from BPA-free, food-grade silicone and shaped to match specific KitchenAid bowls. Each set comes with three liners and three matching lids.

How bakers use them

  • Several batches in a row. Mix your first dough, lift the liner out and drop in a fresh one. No washing between batches. We walk through the full method in How to Bake Back-to-Back Batches Without Stopping to Wash the Bowl.
  • Mix, then store. Snap a lid onto the lifted liner and it becomes a storage container. Dough can go straight into the fridge to chill without dirtying another bowl.
  • Pour without the mess. The liner has a built-in pour spout, so batter goes into the pan with less dripping down the side.
  • Easier cleanup. The liners are dishwasher safe, so the end of a baking day means loading the dishwasher, not scrubbing a heavy bowl by hand.

Which size do you need?

This is the most important step. KitchenAid makes two mixer styles, Tilt-Head and Bowl-Lift, and their bowls are shaped differently even at the same quart size. A liner has to match the bowl shape, not just the number on the label.

Not sure which mixer you have? Our guide, Tilt-Head vs Bowl-Lift: Which KitchenAid Mixer Do You Have?, shows you how to tell in about ten seconds.

Caring for your liners

Silicone liners are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe. Wash them before first use, and let them dry fully before stacking them with their lids.

The short version

A bowl liner turns your mixer bowl into something you never have to stop and wash mid-bake. Match the liner to your mixer style, and your next baking day can run straight from the first batch to the last.
